Measure eye-to-screen distance
Sit in the normal viewing position and measure from your eyes to the planned screen surface. Do not measure wall to wall. Record the nearest and farthest regular seats. The planner converts that distance into a broad viewing-angle range rather than asserting one perfect size. Personal preference, eyesight, subtitles and content quality remain important.
Screen size is diagonal
A 55-inch television has a 55-inch diagonal, not width. Use the manufacturer’s full dimensions including feet, stand and connectors. Tape the proposed screen rectangle on the wall and live with it for a day. Check that the lower edge, centre height and reflections suit seated viewers. Leave ventilation and cable access around the set.
Worked lounge scenario
For a sofa roughly 8 feet from the screen, several common sizes may fall within a comfortable range depending on desired immersion. A family watching news and lower-resolution broadcast content may prefer a more conservative size than someone viewing high-quality films. Our judgment is to choose the largest size that remains comfortable for the nearest regular seat and physically fits the room without dominating circulation.
Resolution and source quality
Higher resolution allows closer viewing before pixel structure becomes noticeable, but it cannot restore detail absent from a compressed source. Evaluate the services, tuner and devices actually used. Upscaling quality varies, and a showroom demonstration is usually optimized. Bring familiar content if a retailer permits it. Do not buy solely from a looping 4K nature clip.
Pakistan and import compatibility
Check input voltage and frequency, plug, Wi-Fi bands, app region availability, tuner support and warranty geography. Streaming applications can change or be limited by region. Large panels are fragile and expensive to return internationally. A locally supported model can be worth more than an imported specification advantage when delivery and panel service are considered.
Mounting and sound
Confirm wall structure, bracket pattern, television weight, viewing height and safe cable routing. Use a qualified installer where needed. Very thin televisions may benefit from a separate sound system, but reserve shelf and socket space before mounting. Avoid routing power cables where they can be pinched or hidden contrary to electrical requirements.
Decision rule
Begin with actual viewing distance and wall dimensions, then choose a comfortable size range. Compare picture processing using familiar content, verify regional functions and price the complete installation. If importing, include damage, return and warranty risk. The right screen is one every regular seat can watch comfortably, not simply the largest panel the wall can hold.
