Build a landed-cost worksheet

Start with item price and add international shipping, insurance if applicable, duties or taxes, payment conversion, local delivery, required voltage equipment, installation and disposal of packaging. Keep uncertain items as a range. Customs treatment and courier fees can change, so verify them with the relevant authority or carrier for the exact item and date. Do not treat checkout price as the final delivered cost.

Confirm delivery eligibility

A category page may be visible in Pakistan while a particular item or seller does not ship to your address. Enter the correct destination on the retailer before relying on availability. Record who is responsible for customs clearance, last-mile delivery and damage inspection. Heavy appliances may reach only a depot or building entrance. Ask about stairs, lifts and appointment delivery.

Worked comparison

Imagine an imported countertop appliance priced 20 percent below a local alternative. Add freight, a correctly rated transformer, conversion fees and the possibility that return postage is uneconomic. The saving may disappear. By contrast, a compact dual-voltage item with inexpensive tracked delivery and worldwide warranty may remain reasonable. Our judgment is to import when the complete risk-adjusted advantage survives this worksheet, not when the listing price alone is lower.

Warranty geography

Read who provides the warranty, where service is available and who pays transport. A manufacturer warranty in the United States may not be valid in Pakistan. Marketplace return periods are not the same as long-term service. Save the model and serial information, invoice and seller terms. Do not assume that a familiar brand name creates local support for a model never sold locally.

Voltage and frequency

Read the exact rating plate or official manual. A plug adapter does not change voltage. High-power heaters, motors and compressors are especially poor candidates for casual conversion. Even a transformer adds cost, losses, heat and another component that needs protection. Prefer a native 220–240 V, 50 Hz version and verify earthing and circuit requirements.

Damage and return planning

Inspect the package promptly according to the seller and carrier process. Photograph external damage before opening and retain packaging until function is confirmed. Large glass, refrigeration and television products carry higher freight damage and return complexity. Ask whether the carrier permits inspection and what evidence is required. Do not power a refrigerator immediately if the manufacturer requires settling after transport.

Decision rule

Use international marketplace links for discovery, then compare the exact model against a locally supplied equivalent. Import only when voltage, delivery, customs, warranty, installation and return arrangements are documented and the remaining advantage is meaningful. For large or service-dependent appliances, local supply is often the lower-risk value even when the sticker price is higher.
